Quality of the base

The concrete base must be strong and have sufficient compressive strength (not less than 25 N / mm 2) and a minimum tear resistance of 1.5 N / mm 2.

The substrate must be clean, dry, free of contaminants such as oil or grease, coatings, surface treatment agents, etc. t.

Old coatings and tiles should be firm, well-bonded and have no adhesive layers. The existing layer should be cleaned and mechanically roughened. Must be tested in a dedicated area.

Substrate preparation

Concrete foundations should be prepared mechanically using abrasive flux cleaning or chipping equipment to remove cement milk and provide a surface with open texture.

Weak concrete should be removed and completely exposed to surface defects such as air bubbles and voids.

Arrange the base, fill the air bubbles / emptiness, and smooth the surface with the appropriate materials belonging to the series Sikafloor ®, SikaDur ® and SikaGard ®.

The concrete or screed layer should be primed or leveled to give a smooth surface. Bumps should be removed, for example, by sanding.

Before using the product, all dust, preferably with a brush and / or a vacuum cleaner, should be removed from all surfaces, with dust, burrs and fluff.

TERMS OF USE / RESTRICTIONS

Base temperature - min. +10 ° C / max. +30 ° C

Ambient temperature - min. +10 ° C / max. +30 ° C

Base moisture

<4% moisture by weight

Test method: Sika ® -Tramex meter, CM measurement or oven drying method.

No rising humidity according to ASTM (polyethylene sheet).

Relative humidity

max. 80%

min. 35% (below +20 ° C: min 45%)

Dew Point

Avoid condensation!

In order to reduce the risk of condensation or flooring stains, the temperature of the substrate and the continuous floor must be at least 3 ° C above the dew point.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Mixing time

Before using Sikafloor ® -400 N Elastic +, stir it mechanically for 3 minutes.

If Extender T is required, it should be added to Sikafloor ® -400 N Elastic until a uniform mixture is obtained.

Do not mix too much to avoid air.

Mixing tools

Sikafloor ® -400 N Elastic + should be thoroughly mixed using a low speed electric mixer (300-400 rpm) or other suitable equipment.

Method of application / tools

Check the substrate for humidity, relative humidity, and dew point before applying.

If the moisture content is> 4% by weight, then a temporary moisture barrier (TMB) system can be used with Sikafloor ® EpoCem ®.

Primer:

Ensure that the substrate is covered with a non-porous coating. If necessary, apply two coats of soil.

Apply Sikafloor ® -156 / -161 with a brush, roller or scraper. It is best to apply a scraper and then re-peel over again.

Coating:

Sikafloor ® -400 N Elastic + is poured and evenly spread over the blade.

Sikafloor ® -400 N Elastic + can also be applied with a roller, but more than one application may be required to achieve the required thickness. Sikafloor ® -400 N Elastic + can also be sprayed with airless spray (spray pressure ~ 300 bar, nozzles with 0.53 mm / 0.021 inch opening, spray angle 60 °).

Tool cleaning

Clean all tools and equipment immediately after work with Thinner C.

Cured and / or stiff material can only be removed mechanically.

Shelf life

Once opened, the material should be used immediately. After opening the container, a surface film is formed within 1-2 hours.

High temperatures and high humidity accelerate tightness.

Time before waiting for the next coat

Wait: Before applying Sikafloor ® -400 N Elastic + on Sikafloor ® -156 / -161

Substrate Temperature Minimum Maximum
+10 °C for 36 hours 6 days
+20 °C for 24 hours 4 days
+30 °C for 12 hours 2 days

Before applying the Sikafloor ® -400 N Elastic + on Sikafloor ® -400 N Elastic + Wait:

Base temperature Minumum Maximum
+10 °C 36 hours Once cleaned (*), Sikafloor ® -400 N Elastic + can be applied at any time at +20 ° C for 24 hours at +30 ° C for 16 hours
+20 °C 24 hours
+30 °C 16 hours

* Assuming all dirt was removed and contamination avoided.

Wait before applying Sikafloor ® -410 is applied over Sikafloor ® -400 N Elastic +

Substrate Temperature Minimum Maximum
+10 °C 36 hours 5 days
+20 °C 24 hours 3 days
+30 °C 12 hours 2 days

The times are approximate and depend on changing environmental conditions and especially on temperature and relative humidity.

Usage notes / restrictions

Do not use Sikafloor ® -400 N Elastic + on substrates with rising moisture.

The newly applied Sikafloor ® -400 N Elastic + should be protected from moisture, condensation and water for at least 24 hours.

Before applying Sikafloor ® -400 N Elastic +, primer coatings must be stiffened so that they no longer stick.

Do not use indoors.

Always cover with falling temperature. If you cover up with rising temperatures, rising air can cause a "pecker".

Tools

Recommended Tool Supplier:

PPW-Polyplan-Werkzeuge GmbH, phone: +49 40/5597260, www.polyplan.com

Incorrect assessment and treatment of cracks can reduce service life and crack cracks in the base.

If you want the colors to coincide well, make sure that Sikafloor ® -400 N Elastic + has the same batch number in each zone.

Under certain conditions, high ambient temperatures and high point loads may result in imprints on the resin.

If heated, do not use gaseous, liquid fuel, paraffin or other fossil fuel heaters, as they emit large amounts of CO2 and H2O (water) vapor, which can negatively affect the coating. For heating, use only electric systems that blow warm air.
